Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Abdullah bin Salamah narrates that Hazrat Ubaidah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Indeed, I can alter the issue of the grandfather in two hundred ways."

Ibn Sirin narrates from Ubaidah that I remember one hundred different verdicts from Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the grandfather.

Ubaid bin Amr Kharfi narrates that a man wanted to ask Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about an issue of inheritance. He said, "Ask! As long as it does not mention the grandfather."

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair narrates from a person of the tribe of Murad that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever wishes to plunge into the germs of Hell should pass judgment in the matter of grandfather and brothers.

Abu Ishaq says that we went to Hazrat Shurayh and asked him a question about a matter, so the person who was standing by his bedside said, "You do not say anything about the grandfather."

Hazrat Sha’bi says: Adopt the opinion regarding the grandfather on which the scholars are unanimous, that is, the opinion of Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him).

Saeed narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote something on a shoulder bone regarding the grandfather and the kalalah, then began to seek guidance from Allah Almighty. When he was wounded, he had that bone brought to him and erased it. Then he said: I had written a document about the grandfather and the kalalah, but now I think I should leave you people to your own condition. Thus, people never found out what he had written on the shoulder bone.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that whoever wishes to plunge into the germs of Hell should pass judgment in the matter of grandfather and brothers.
