Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubaid bin Abi Al-Ja'd that Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you know what relation the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) has with me? She is my maternal half-sister. He (Hazrat Hamza) freed a man, then that man died, and his inheritance was divided between him (Hazrat Hamza) and his daughter. And this happened during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad narrates that Hazrat Hamza’s daughter (who was the maternal sister of Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad) said that her freed slave passed away and left behind a daughter. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) divided his wealth between me and his daughter, giving half of the wealth to me and half to her.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave half of the wealth to the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) and half of the wealth to the daughter of his slave.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man passed away and he left behind a daughter and some masters who had set him free. So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave half of the wealth to his daughter and half to his masters.

It is narrated from Hazrat Shamus Kandiyah that she says: I sought a verdict from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding my father. When my father passed away, he left behind no one except me and his master. So Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) granted half of the wealth to me and half to his master.

The same incident is also narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) through another chain of transmission.

Abu al-Kanood narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the ruling that in the case of inheritance by a daughter and a master, half of the wealth should be given to the daughter and half to the master.

Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that the freed slave of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)'s daughter passed away, and he left behind his own daughter and the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave half of the wealth to Hazrat Hamza's daughter and half to the deceased's daughter.

It is narrated from Abu Husain who says: I sought a ruling from Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding this issue: one of our freed slaves passed away and left behind two daughters and several masters. Hazrat Shurayh granted two-thirds of the wealth to his two daughters and one-third of the wealth to his master.

A'mash narrates that in the presence of Ibrahim, the hadith regarding the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) was mentioned, that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted her half of the wealth. He said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted her the wealth as a gift.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad narrates that the freed slave of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him)'s daughter passed away and left behind his own daughter and the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave half of the wealth to his daughter and half to the daughter of Hazrat Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) says that this issue will be resolved in two parts: half of the wealth for the daughter and half for the master.
