Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Razin (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A dream remains suspended on the foot of a bird until it is interpreted; then when it is interpreted, it comes to pass." The narrator says that a dream is one part out of forty-six parts of prophethood. The narrator says: I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said that a dream should not be related to anyone except a friend or a wise person.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: The dream of a Muslim is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim's dream is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.

Hazrat Ata bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from a muhaddith who used to serve as a mufti in Egypt. That muhaddith says that I asked Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) about the interpretation of this verse: { لَہُمُ الْبُشْرَی فِی الْحَیَاۃِ الدُّنْیَا }. He replied that since the time I asked the interpretation of this verse from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), no one has asked me about its interpretation until now. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also said to me at that time, "No one before you has asked me about the interpretation of this verse." It refers to the good dream that a Muslim sees or is shown, and in the Hereafter, the glad tidings that will be given is Paradise.

Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: The dream of a Muslim is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that I asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the glad tidings that have been promised to a Muslim in this world. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that it refers to the good dream which a Muslim sees or which is shown to him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A good dream is one of the seventy parts of prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted the curtain of his blessed chamber while the people were standing in rows behind Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! Nothing remains of the glad tidings of prophethood except for those good dreams which a Muslim sees or which are shown to him.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that prophethood and messengership have ended. Upon hearing this, the people felt uneasy, so then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that yes, glad tidings remain and they are a part of prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Sometimes a person does a deed because of which people begin to love him." He replied, "This is glad tidings for the believer."

Hazrat Zaher Aslami narrates from his father that Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that good and true dreams are one-seventieth part of prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that a believer's dream is the forty-sixth part of prophethood.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Dreams are among the glad tidings and they are the seventieth part of prophethood.

Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that he said that { لَہُمُ الْبُشْرَی فِی الْحَیَاۃِ الدُّنْیَا } refers to good dreams which a righteous person sees.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that { لَہُمُ الْبُشْرَی فِی الْحَیَاۃِ الدُّنْیَا } refers to good dreams which a Muslim sees or is shown.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that { لَہُمُ الْبُشْرَی فِی الْحَیَاۃِ الدُّنْیَا } refers to a good dream which a Muslim sees for himself or for his brother.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The good dream of a righteous Muslim is one-seventieth part of prophethood.
