Hazrat Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty and speaking little are both branches of modesty.
Hadith 32449
Hazrat Muharib bin Dithar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ibn Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We came to Madinah and presented ourselves before Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). We said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! We were very far from our cities. We met some people who say that there is no such thing as destiny (taqdeer). He (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Are those people among the Muslims? And do they pray facing the Qiblah? We replied: Yes! The narrator says: Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) became so angry that I wished I had not asked him. Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When you meet those people, inform them that indeed Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is free from them, and they are free from me. Then he said: If you wish, shall I narrate to you a hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: Yes! Then he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then a man came, wearing clean clothes, with a pleasant fragrance and a beautiful face. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! What is the reality of Islam? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is that you establish prayer, give zakat, fast in Ramadan, perform Hajj to the House of Allah, and perform ghusl (ritual bath) from major impurity. That person said: You have spoken the truth. What is the reality of faith (iman)? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is that you believe in Allah, and in the Last Day, and in the angels, and in the Book, and in the Prophets, and in destiny (taqdeer), its good and its bad, and its sweetness and its bitterness. That person said: You have spoken the truth. Then that person went back. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give me my shoes. He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We all stood up, but we were not able to find him. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That was Jibreel, who came to teach you the matters of your religion.
