Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The house in which the Qur'an is not recited is like a deserted house which has no one to inhabit it.

Hazrat ‘Abbad narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin said: In the house where the Qur’an is recited, angels are present there and devils leave that house. The people of that house experience abundance and an increase in goodness. And in the house where the Qur’an is not recited, devils are present there and angels leave that house, and the people of that house experience hardship and a decrease in goodness.

Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas narrates that I heard Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud saying: Indeed, the emptiest of houses is the one that is empty of the recitation of the Book of Allah.

Hazrat Laith narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sabit said: Indeed, the houses in which the Qur'an is recited shine for the inhabitants of the heavens like stars, and he said: And indeed, the house in which the Qur'an is not recited, its inhabitants are subjected to hardship. And the devils become present there, and the angels flee from that house. And indeed, among the houses, the truly empty house is the one that is empty of the Book of Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ubaid bin Umair narrates that when Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf would enter his house, he would recite Ayat al-Kursi in its corners.

Hazrat Thabit narrates that Hazrat Abu Hurairah used to say: In the house where the Book of Allah is recited, the people of that house are granted abundance, and goodness increases. Angels are present there, and devils leave that house. And in the house where the Book of Allah is not recited, the people of that house face constriction, and goodness decreases. Devils are present there.
