Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Barzah Al-Aslami narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to rise from a gathering, he used to supplicate as follows: O Allah! You are pure and I praise You, I bear witness that there is no deity except You, I seek Your forgiveness, and I turn to You in repentance.

Hazrat Mujahid narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Whoever recites this supplication when leaving a gathering: "O Allah! You are pure and I praise You. I bear witness that there is no deity except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance." Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Allah, the Lord of Majesty, removes every sin committed in that gathering from him.

Hazrat Ziyad bin Al-Husain narrates: I went to Hazrat Abu Al-Aliyah, and when I intended to leave his presence, he said: Shall I not tell you the words which Jibreel taught to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? Hazrat Ziyad says: I said, Why not? (Please do teach me.) So Hazrat Abu Al-Aliyah said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the very end of a gathering and was about to stand up, he would recite these words: O Allah! You are pure and I praise You, I bear witness that there is no deity except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance. Hazrat Abu Al-Aliyah says: Then it was asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What are these words that you have said? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: These are the words that Jibreel taught me, and they become an expiation for what occurs in the gathering.

Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that Hazrat Abu Al-Ahwas said regarding the saying of Allah Almighty: (And glorify your Lord with His praise when you rise) When you rise, say these words: Allah is Pure and I praise Him.

Hazrat Amr bin Dinar says that Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair said: When a person stands up from his gathering, he should recite this supplication: O Allah! Forgive me for the deeds I have done in this gathering of mine.

Hazrat Habib narrates that Hazrat Yahya bin Ja'dah said: The expiation for a gathering is these words: I declare Your purity, and I praise You, I seek Your forgiveness and I repent before You.
