Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed bin Yazid narrates that Hazrat Ikrimah said: What is the matter with you that you do not ask questions? Are you not students of knowledge?

Hazrat Sa‘d bin Ibrahim narrates that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: No person ever asked me a question except that I recognized whether he was a jurist or not a jurist.

Hazrat Ata bin Saib narrates that Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair said: "Is there no one to ask me (questions)?"

Hazrat Amr says that Hazrat Urwah instructed us: Come to me and acquire knowledge from me.

Imam Zuhri says that Hazrat Urwah used to familiarize people with his words.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Saib narrates that Hazrat Zazan said: I asked Hazrat Ibn Masood about a few things regarding which no one had ever asked me before.

Hazrat Khalid bin Ararah narrates that I went to an open field and found about thirty or forty people sitting there, so I sat with them. Meanwhile, Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us. The narrator says that I did not see that he recognized anyone among the people except me. Then he said: Is there not anyone who will ask me a question and benefit from it, and his companions will also benefit?

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib states that among the companions of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), there was no one except Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bin Abi Talib who used to say, "Ask me."
