Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Majliz narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) when seeking permission (to enter), and if he was told, "Enter with peace," he would turn back and say, "I do not know whether I will be with peace or without peace?"

Hazrat Abu al-Jarrah narrates that a man from the people of Hijaz stated: My wife said to me, "Bring Hazrat Abu Hurairah to me so that I may ask him for a fatwa regarding myself." So I went to him, and he came with me. When we reached the door, he said, "Enter the house." So I entered and said, "Hazrat Abu Hurairah has come." He said, "As-salamu alaikum, may I enter?" We said, "Enter in peace." He said again, "As-salamu alaikum, may I enter?" We again said, "Enter in peace." He said, "You should say, 'Enter.'" He asked, "As-salamu alaikum, may I enter?" We said to him, "Enter." So he entered.
