Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Atiyyah, who is the scribe of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mutarrif bin Shukhayr, narrates: I heard Hazrat Abdullah bin Mutarrif bin Shukhayr saying: There is no person on earth who initiates the greeting of peace except that it will become charity for him on the Day of Resurrection.

Hazrat Zaid bin Wahb narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever passes by a group of people and greets them with salam, and then those people reply to his salam, that person will have one degree of superiority over them because he reminded them of salam.

Hazrat Abu Asim narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The one who initiates the greeting (salam) is superior in reward to his companion.

Imam Sha'bi narrates that Hazrat Shurayh said: Whenever two Muslims meet each other, the one who initiates the greeting of peace will be closer to Allah.
