Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi’ narrates that I was traveling with Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Zakariya in the region of Rome when my riding animal needed to urinate, so the animal urinated while standing, then I rejoined him. He said: Why did you not greet (with salam)? I replied: I had just separated from you. He said: Even if you had just separated from me. The companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to travel, and sometimes trees would come between them and cause separation; when they would gather again, some of them would greet others with salam.

Hazrat Mujahid narrates that two men from among the companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were traveling together, and whenever a tree would come between them and separate them, then when they met again, one of them would greet the other with salam.

Hazrat Amr bin Murrah narrates that Hazrat Abu Al-Bakhtari and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, both were suffering from stomach pain. They would return, and greet each other with salam again.

Hazrat A'mash says that Ibrahim would not part from me except after greeting me with Salam. I would come and then go, and he would greet me with Salam. Then I would come and then go, and he would greet me with Salam.

Hazrat Awwam narrates that Ibrahim Taimi said: If a Muslim separates from his companion and a tree comes between them, and then they meet again, he should greet his companion with Salam.
