Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Shurayh narrates that I asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about staying in the desert. She replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go towards those mounds, and once when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to go to the desert, he sent a rebellious she-camel from the camels of charity to me and said: O Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)! Be gentle, for gentleness beautifies whatever it is in, and when gentleness is removed from something, it becomes ugly.

Hazrat Abu Darda narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever is given a portion of gentleness, he is given a portion of goodness. And whoever is deprived of gentleness, he is deprived of goodness.

Hazrat Jarir narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is deprived of goodness has indeed been deprived of goodness.

This statement of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is also narrated from Hazrat Jarir through this chain of transmission.

Hazrat Hisham states that his father, Hazrat Urwah, said: I have received the information that it was written in the Torah as follows: Gentleness is the foundation of wisdom.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Khalid narrates that Hazrat Qais said: It used to be stated that whoever is treated gently in this world, it will benefit him in the Hereafter.

Hazrat Khalid bin Ma'dan narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Verily, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness. He bestows from His bounty upon gentleness and helps through gentleness in a way that He does not do in harshness.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mughaffal narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Verily, Allah is gentle and loves gentleness, and He is pleased with it, and He grants through gentleness what He does not grant through harshness.

Imam Zuhri narrates that a man from Bali says that I went with my father to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) whispered something to him. So I asked my father: What did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say to you? He replied: When you intend to do something, make love essential until Allah brings about some solution to your matter.

Hasan narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Indeed, Allah Almighty is gentle and loves gentleness, and He gives for gentleness what He does not give for harshness.
