Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas that Hazrat Abu Talha asked the Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about some orphans who had inherited wine, whether that wine could be turned into vinegar. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked this.

It is narrated from Hazrat Masna bin Saeed, he says that I was present with Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz when he wrote a letter to the governor of Wasit: Do not transport wine from one settlement to another, and whatever you find, turn it into vinegar.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aslam, he says that Hazrat Umar said: There is no harm in the vinegar you find with the People of the Book, as long as you do not know that after it became vinegar from wine, they intended to corrupt it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that he says there is no harm in turning wine into vinegar.
