Hadith 22895
٢٢٨٩٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي جعفر (الفراء) (١) عن (جعفر) (٢) (٣) بن أبي (ثروان) (٤) أن عليا حث الناس على ابن (النباح) (٥) (فجمعوا) (٦) له (أكثر) (٧) من مكاتبته ففضلت (٨) فضلة فجعلها عليٌ (في) (٩) المكاتبين (١٠).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ja'far ibn Abu Tharwan, may Allah have mercy on him, that Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, encouraged the people to provide financial assistance to Ibn al-Nabbah. The people collected for him more than the amount required for his contract of manumission. After paying the amount for the contract of manumission, some was left over. Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, gave that to two other contract slaves and had their contract amounts paid.
Hadith 22896
٢٢٨٩٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن علية عن يونس عن الحسن قال: مكاتب (سأل) (١) في رقبة أو أو رقبتين فاعطي عطاء، (فلما) (٢) (كثر) (٣) في عين أبي موسى ما أعطي، أمر به وبما أعطي (فأدخل) (٤) ثم نظر الذي سأل فيه فأعطاه إياه (فأخذ) (٥) الفضل فجعله في رقبته أو رقاب.
It is narrated from Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) that a mukatab asked for the freedom of one or two people, and it was given to him. When it became quite a lot in the view of Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him), he called him. He came, bringing what had been given to him. Then he (Abu Musa) saw, gave him what he had asked for, and kept the remainder, and with it, he freed one or several slaves.
Hadith 22897
٢٢٨٩٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا الربيع (بن) (١) صبيح عن يزيد بن أبان عن صبيح (بن عبد اللَّه) (٢) أن عبد اللَّه بن عباس حث الناس على مكاتبه، فجمعوا له فأدى مكاتبته، وبقيت فضلة فجعلها عبد اللَّه في المكاتبين (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Sabeeh that Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) encouraged people to collect money for the payment of the contract price of a mukatab. People collected wealth for this purpose, the mukatab paid the contract price, and some wealth was left over. So Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) gave that remaining wealth to two other mukatabs.
