ما جاء في ثمن الكلب
Regarding the Price of a Dog
Hadith 22180
٢٢١٨٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عمرو عن عطاء عن (سعيد عن) (١) أبي هريرة قال: سمعته يقول: ثمن الكلب سحت (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that selling a dog and taking its price is forbidden.
Hadith 22181
٢٢١٨١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن عيينة عن الزهري عن أبي بكر عن أبي مسعود أن النبي ﷺ نهى عن مهر البغي وثمن الكلب (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the earnings of a prostitute and the price of a dog.
Hadith 22182
٢٢١٨٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع (١) عن (ابن) (٢) أبي ليلى عن عطاء عن أبي هريرة قال: نهى رسول اللَّه ﷺ عن مهر البغي، وعسب (الفحل) (٣)، (وكسب الحجام، وثمن الكلب) (٤) (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade earnings from prostitution, from mating camels, from practicing barbering, and from the price of a dog.
Hadith 22183
٢٢١٨٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر (قال: حدثنا وكيع) (١) عن الأعمش قال: (أرى) (٢) ⦗٤٧٩⦘ (أبا) (٣) سفيان ذكره عن جابر قال: نهى رسول اللَّه ﷺ عن ثمن الكلب (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade the price of a dog.
Hadith 22184
٢٢١٨٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن حماد بن سلمة عن أبي (الزبير) (١) عن جابر (٢).
Hazrat Abu Mahzam (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked the price of all dogs except hunting dogs.
Hadith 22186
٢٢١٨٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن يزيد بن زياد (بن) (١) أبي الجعد عن (عوف) (٢) بن أبي جحيفة عن أبيه قال: نهى رسول اللَّه ﷺ عن مهر البغي وكسب الحجام وثمن الكلب (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade accepting the earnings from the dowry of a prostitute, the earnings of a cupper, and the price of a dog.
Hadith 22187
٢٢١٨٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن عبد الكريم ⦗٤٨٠⦘ عن قيس ابن حبتر عن ابن عباس رفعه قال: ثمن الكلب ومهر البغي وثمن الخمر حرام (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in a marfu’ form that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The price of a dog, the earnings from the dowry of a prostitute, and the price of wine are forbidden.
Hadith 22188
٢٢١٨٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن أشعث عن ابن سيرين قال: أخبث الكسب: كسب الزمارة وثمن الكلب.
Hazrat Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The most vile means of livelihood are earning through playing the flute and the trade of a dog's price.
Hadith 22189
٢٢١٨٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا (يونس بن محمد) (١) قال: حدثنا شريك عن أبي (فروة) (٢) قال: سمعت عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى يقول: ما أبالي ثمن (كلب) (٣) أكلت أو ثمن خنزير.
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I do not see any difference between consuming the price of a dog and the price of a pig.
Hadith 22190
٢٢١٩٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن شعبة قال: سمعت الحكم وحمادا يكرهان ثمن الكلب.
Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) considered the price of a dog to be disliked.
Hadith 22191
٢٢١٩١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عفان قال: أخبرنا أبان العطار عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن إبراهيم بن (عبد اللَّه) (١) عن السائب بن يزيد عن رافع بن خديج أن النبي ﷺ قال: "كسب الحجام خبيث، (ومهر البغي خبيث) (٢)، وثمن الكلب خبيث" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The earnings of a cupper, the earnings of a prostitute's dowry, and the price of a dog are forbidden.
