Those Who Dislike Taking Some Goods and the Rest in Money in a Salam Sale
Hadith 21188
٢١١٨٨ - حدثنا محمد بن (ميسر) (١) عن ابن جريج عن (عمرو) (٢) بن شعيب (٣) أن عبد اللَّه بن عمرو كان (يسلف) (٤) له في الطعام، فقال (للذي) (٥) كان يسلف له: لا (تأخذ) (٦) بعض (رأس) (٧) (مالنا) (٨) وبعض طعامنا، ولكن (خذ) (٩) رأس مالنا كله أو الطعام وافيًا (١٠).
Hazrat Amr bin Shu'aib narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to conduct Salam transactions in grain, but he would tell the person not to take some grain and some money. Either take all the money or take all the grain.
Hadith 21189
٢١١٨٩ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر [(عن الشيباني) (١) عن الشعبي قال: سألته عن ⦗٢٥١⦘ رجل يسلم السلم [فيأخذ بعض سلمه (دراهما) (٢)] (٣) بعض سلمه طعاما، فقال: لا تأخذ إلا رأس مالك أو طعاما كله.
Shaibani says that I asked Sha’bi, “If in a Salam sale someone takes some goods and some of the Salam commodity, what is the ruling?” He replied, “Either take all the goods or take all the grain.”
Hadith 21190
٢١١٩٠ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن الشيباني عن حماد عن إبراهيم مثله.
It is also narrated similarly from Ibrahim.
Hadith 21191
٢١١٩١ - حدثنا علي بن مسهر عن أبي (عمر) (١) عن الحسن قال: سألته عنه فقال: هذا فاسد، لا تأخذ إلا رأس مالك أو طعاما كله.
Hazrat Abu Umar says that I asked Hasan about this matter, and he replied that it is invalid; either take all the money or take all the goods.
Hadith 21192
٢١١٩٢ - حدثنا جرير عن عطاء بن السائب عن عبد اللَّه بن (معقل) (١) في رجل أسلم مائة (درهم) (٢) في طعام فأخذ نصف سلمه طعاما وعسر عليه النصف فقال: لا، (خذ) (٣) رأس مالك جميعا.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Ma’qil states that if a person makes a sale of salam on grain for one hundred dirhams with someone, and takes half the grain and half the money, then this is not permissible; he should take the full principal amount.
Hadith 21193
٢١١٩٣ - حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن منصور عن إبراهيم في الرجل يسلم (١) فيأخذ نصف سلمه (٢) و (بعض) (٣) (درهم) (٤) فكرهه.
Ibrahim considered it disliked that a person should take some cash and some goods in a sale by salam.
Hadith 21194
٢١١٩٤ - حدثنا (عبد الرحمن) (١) بن مهدي عن زمعة عن (ابن) (٢) طاوس عن أبيه أنه كان يكره أن يأخذ بعض سلمه وبعضا طعاما.
Hazrat Tawus considered it undesirable for a person to take some cash and some goods in a sale contract of Salam.
Hadith 21195
٢١١٩٥ - حدثنا عبد السلام بن حرب عن عبد اللَّه بن (بشر) (١) عمن يذكر عن أبي سلمة أنه كان يكره أن يأخذ بعض سلمه وبعضا حنطة.
Hazrat Abu Salamah considered it undesirable that a person should take some cash and some goods in a Salam sale.
Hadith 21196
٢١١٩٦ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن زيد بن جبير قال: سمعت ابن عمر يقول: خذ رأس سلمك أو رأس مالك (١).
Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Either take the goods or return the money.
Hadith 21197
٢١١٩٧ - حدثنا أبو داود الطيالسي عن جرير بن حازم عن قيس بن سعد عن مجاهد أنه كرهه.
Hazrat Mujahid considered it disliked, and Hazrat Ata considered it permissible.
Hadith 21199
٢١١٩٩ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن عمرو بن دينار عن (جابر) (١) بن زيد أنه كره أن يأخذ بعض سلمه وبعضا طعاما.
Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid has considered it undesirable in Bai' Salam to take some cash and some goods.

٢١٢٠٠ - حدثنا ابن عيينة عن أبي (السوداء) (١) عن (٢) شريح أنه كرهه.
Hazrat Shurayh has considered it undesirable in Bai' Salam to take some cash and some goods.
Hadith 21201
٢١٢٠١ - حدثنا الضحاك بن مخلد عن ابن جريج عن أبي الزبير عن سعيد بن جبير أنه كرهه.
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair has considered it undesirable in Bai' Salam to take some cash and some goods.
Hadith 21202
٢١٢٠٢ - حدثنا ابن مهدي (عن) (١) سفيان عن ابن أبي ذئب (عن) (٢) سالم والقاسم أنهما كرها أن يأخذ بعض سلمه وبعضا طعاما.
Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Qasim have considered it undesirable in Bai' Salam to take part payment in cash and part in goods.
Hadith 21203
٢١٢٠٣ - حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن سلمة بن علقمة عن ابن سيرين أنه كره أن يأخذ بعض سلمه وبعضا طعاما.
Ibn Sirin considered it undesirable in a sale by salam to take part payment in cash and part in goods.
Hadith 21204
٢١٢٠٤ - حدثنا وكيع (حدثنا) (١) سفيان عن منصور عن إبراهيم.
Many scholars have deemed it disliked to take some cash and some goods in a Salam sale.
