Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that every divorced woman is entitled to Mut‘ah, except for the woman who is divorced before consummation; she will receive half of the dowry.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that every divorced woman is entitled to mut‘ah, whether consummation has taken place or not, and whether a dowry has been specified or not.

Hazrat Abu Alia (may Allah have mercy on him) says that every divorced woman is entitled to Mut‘ah (a parting gift).

Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that every divorced woman is entitled to Muta’ (provision).

Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) that Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Abu Aliah (may Allah have mercy on him) considered mut‘ah obligatory for both the woman with whom consummation had taken place and the one with whom it had not. Hazrat Saeed (may Allah have mercy on him) replied that this was the case in Surah Al-Ahzab, but when Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed, it was made obligatory that the woman for whom a dowry had been fixed would receive half the dowry, and she would not receive mut‘ah.
