Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there are three things in which there is no jest: marriage, emancipation, and divorce.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that four things become effective in every situation: the emancipation of a slave, divorce, marriage, and a vow.

Hazrat Dhahak (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there is no jest in three things: divorce, marriage, and vow.

Hazrat Amr bin Muhajir, may Allah have mercy on him, says that Abdul Malik bin Marwan, Sulaiman, Umar bin Abdul Aziz, and Yazid bin Abdul Malik wrote in a letter that you should forgive all the words of the foolish, but do not give them concession in divorce and the emancipation of slaves.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there are three things in which there is no jest: marriage, divorce, and emancipation.

Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that in the time of ignorance, when a man divorced his wife, he would take her back and say that he was only joking; when he freed a slave, he would take him back and say that he was only joking. Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse { وَلاَ تَتَّخِذُوا آیَاتِ اللہِ ہُزُوًا } "Do not make a mockery of Allah's verses." Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said that whoever divorces, frees a slave, arranges a marriage, or marries, and then says that he was only joking, these things will still be enforced.

Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote in a letter that forgive every mistake of the foolish, but do not forgive the freeing of a slave and the giving of divorce.
