Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim says that if a person entrusts the matter of his wife to another man, and then that other man pronounces divorce, then it will be counted as one irrevocable divorce (talaq bainah).

Hasan says that if a person entrusts the matter of his wife to another man, then whatever that other man does will be enforced.

Hazrat Ata says that if a man says to another man, "Go and divorce such-and-such woman on my behalf," he said that it is permissible; if he divorces her, it is permissible.

Hazrat Amir was asked that if a person entrusts the matter of his wife to another man, and then that other man pronounces three divorces, what is the ruling? He replied that it will be counted as one divorce, as the man had entrusted the matter of the woman to the other man only once.

Hazrat Hammad says that if a person entrusts the matter of his wife to another man, and then that other man pronounces divorce, then it will be one irrevocable divorce (talaq bainah).

Hazrat Zuhri says that if a person entrusts the matter of divorce of his wife to her, or to her brother, or father, or to someone else, then whatever the authorized person does will be effective. If one divorce is given, then one; if two are given, then two; and if three are given, then three.
