Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sayyar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him), "People say about you that you do not consider the divorce of a compelled person to be valid?" He replied, "They fabricate lies against me."

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the divorce of a person who is forced becomes effective.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the divorce of a person who is forced (to give it) takes effect. This is because he has given his life as ransom.

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the divorce of a person who is forced (to give it) takes effect.

Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the divorce of a person who is compelled becomes effective.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the divorce of a person who is forced becomes effective.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a sword is placed on a man's head and then he pronounces divorce, I will consider that divorce to have taken effect.

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: If a person is forced to give divorce or to free a slave, what is the ruling? He replied: If the ruler has forced him, it is valid, and if robbers have forced him, it is not valid.
