Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Aslam narrates that I asked Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib: A woman swore that she would not drink the milk of her husband's goat, but then she drank it. He replied: There is nothing (no expiation) upon her; oaths do not apply to eating and drinking.

It is narrated from Hazrat Tariq bin Shihab that a man had some goats and he swore that he would not drink their milk. When his wife saw this, she also swore that she would not drink their milk. As a result, the goats dried up and were ruined. Then he went to Hazrat Abdullah and mentioned this to him. He said, "This is from Satan. Both of you should return to that which is best for you both, and then drink its milk."

It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that there was a guest at the house of a man from the Ansar. His family delayed, so the Ansari asked, "Have you given my guest dinner?" They said, "No." The Ansari said, "Then by Allah, I will not eat your food tonight either." His wife said, "Then I will not eat either." The guest said, "By Allah, I will not eat either." The Ansari said, "Shall my guest spend the night without eating! Bring the food," then he ate with them. In the morning, he went and informed the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of the whole incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You obeyed Allah and disobeyed Satan."
