Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi' says that whenever Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would take an oath, he would give away one mudd (of food), and if he would emphasize it, he would free a slave. Ayub says that I asked Hazrat Nafi' what is meant by emphasizing and making it firm? He replied, taking an oath repeatedly on the same thing.

Ibrahim says that when a person says to another, "He owes me money, if you do not pay me by such-and-such day, then it will be charity upon you," then it is nothing. But if he says, "If you do not give it to me by such-and-such day, then it will be charity for the poor," then it will be as he said.

Hazrat Mansur bin Abdur Rahman narrates that my mother asked Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the expiation for a person who says: "All my wealth is for the sake of Allah" or "for the door of the Ka'bah." Umm Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: He will give the expiation that is due for an oath.
