Hadith 12385
١٢٣٨٥ - حدثنا يعلى بن عبيد حدثنا محمد بن عمرو عن سعيد بن أبي (سعيد) (١) المقبري عن عبد اللَّه بن أبي قتادة عن أبيه قال: أتي رسول اللَّه ﷺ بجنازة ليصلي عليها فقال: "عليه دين؟ " قالوا: نعم ديناران. قال: " (هل) (٢) ترك لهما وفاء"، قالوا: لا، قال: "فصلوا على صاحبكم". قال أبو قتادة: هما عليَّ يا رسول اللَّه، فصلى عليه النبي ﷺ (٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father that a funeral was brought to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he (peace and blessings be upon him) could lead the funeral prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired: "Does he owe anyone any debt?" The companions replied, "Yes, he owes two dinars." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Has he left behind enough wealth to pay it off?" They replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You people offer the funeral prayer of your companion." Hazrat Abu Qatadah says that he submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! They are my responsibility." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led his funeral prayer.
Hadith 12386
١٢٣٨٦ - حدثنا زيد بن الحباب عن موسى بن عبيدة عن إياس بن سلمة عن أبيه أن النبي ﷺ أتي بجنازة (رجل) (١) من الأنصار ليصلي عليه فقال: "هل ترك شيئًا؟ " قالوا: لا، قال: "هل عليه دين؟ "، قالوا: نعم عليه ديناران، قال: "صلوا على صاحبكم"، قال أبو قتادة: هما عليَّ يا رسول اللَّه ﷺ (قال) (٢): ⦗٢٠٥⦘ فصلى عليه النبي ﷺ (٣).
Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah narrates from his father that a funeral was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he (peace and blessings be upon him) could perform the funeral prayer. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did he leave anything behind?" The companions replied, "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Is there any debt upon him?" The companions replied, "Yes, he owes two dinars." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You perform the funeral of your companion yourselves." Hazrat Abu Qatadah said, "They are my responsibility, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the funeral prayer. The narrator says that Hazrat Iyas informed me that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met Hazrat Abu Qatadah, he inquired, "What happened to those two dinars?" Until he had paid those dinars.
Hadith 12388
١٢٣٨٨ - حدثنا حسين بن علي (عن) (١) زائدة عن عبد اللَّه بن محمد بن عقيل عن جابر بن عبد اللَّه قال: مات رجل (فأتينا) (٢) رسول اللَّه ﷺ ليصلي عليه، فخطا خطى ثم قال: "عليه دين؟ ". (قلنا) (٣): نعم (عليه) (٤) ديناران، قال: "صلوا على صاحبكم" (٥).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when a man passed away, we came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would lead his funeral prayer. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired, "Does he have any debt?" We replied, "Yes, he owes two dinars." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should offer your companion's funeral prayer yourselves."
Hadith 12389
١٢٣٨٩ - حدثنا محمد بن (بشر) (١) حدثنا محمد بن عمرو حدثنا أبو كثير مولى الليثيين عن محمد بن عبد اللَّه بن جحش أن رجلًا جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول اللَّه ما لي إن قتلت في سبيل اللَّه؟ قال: "الجنة"، فلما ولى قال: "إلا الدَّيْنُ (سارَّني) (٢) به جبريل (آنفًا) (٣) " (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Jahsh that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! If I sacrifice my life in the way of Allah, (what is the reward?) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Paradise. Then when he turned away, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Except for debt, which Gabriel has just informed me about.
Hadith 12390
١٢٣٩٠ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون أخبرنا يحيى بن سعيد عن سعيد بن أبي سعيد عن عبد اللَّه بن أبي قتادة عن أبيه (عن) (١) النبي ﷺ بنحو منه إلا أنه قال: "قال لي جبريل ﵇ (٢) " (٣).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Qatadah narrates from his father in the same manner, but at the end it is mentioned that Hazrat Jibreel informed me.
