Some scholars see no harm in performing the funeral prayer in the mosque
Hadith 12335
١٢٣٣٥ - حدثنا حفص عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه قال: ما صلِّي على أبي بكر (١) إلا في المسجد (٢).
Hazrat Hisham bin Urwah narrates from his father that the funeral prayer of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq was performed in the mosque itself.
Hadith 12336
١٢٣٣٦ - حدثنا وكيع عن كثير بن زيد عن المطلب بن عبد اللَّه بن حنطب قال: صلِّي على أبي بكر وعمر تجاه المنبر (١).
Hazrat Abdul Muttalib bin Abdullah bin Hantab narrates that the funeral prayer of Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar was performed facing towards the pulpit.
Hadith 12337
١٢٣٣٧ - حدثنا الفضل بن دكين عن مالك بن أنس عن نافع عن ابن عمر أن عمر صلِّي عليه في المسجد (١).
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the funeral prayer of Hazrat Umar was offered in the mosque.
Hadith 12338
١٢٣٣٨ - حدثنا يونس بن محمد حدثنا فليح بن سليمان عن صالح بن العجلان عن عباد بن عبد اللَّه (بن) (١) الزبير عن عائشة قالت: واللَّه (ما) (٢) صلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ على سهيل بن بيضاء إلا في المسجد (٣).
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that by Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer of Hazrat Suhail bin Baida in the mosque.
Hadith 12339
١٢٣٣٩ - حدثنا محمد بن (بشر) (١) (حدثنا) (٢) محمد بن عمرو (حدثنا) (٣) أشياخنا أن عمر صلي عليه عند المنبر فجعل الناس يصلون عليه أفواجًا (٤).
It is narrated from Hazrat Muhammad bin Amr that the funeral prayer of Hazrat Umar was offered near the pulpit, and people in large groups were performing his funeral prayer.
