Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the women who visit graves, those who make them places of prostration (mosques), and those who light lamps upon them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Hazrat Umm Salamah mentioned before the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the church which she had seen in Abyssinia, whose name was Maria, and also mentioned the pictures she had seen in it. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: These are such people that when a righteous man among them dies, they build a place of worship (a place of prostration) over his grave and put his pictures in it. These are the people who are the worst of creation in the sight of Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: The worst people among mankind are those whom the Day of Judgment finds alive, and those who made graves into places of prostration.

Hazrat Imran narrates that Hazrat Ibn Sirin disliked visiting graves and performing prayers near them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hasan bin Hasan that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not make my grave a place of festival (prostration), and do not turn your homes into graveyards, and wherever you are, send blessings upon me, surely your blessings are conveyed to me.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. Surely, Allah's severe wrath and anger befell those people who made the graves of their prophets places of prostration.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah has cursed the people who made the graves of their prophets places of prostration.

Hazrat Umar said: Certainly, we have not seen anyone more misguided than the one who visits graves as an act of worship.

Ibrahim states that (the Companions) disliked visiting graves.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Hassaan bin Thabit that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed women who visit graves.

Hazrat Sha'bi says that if the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not forbidden visiting graves, I would have visited my daughter's grave.
