Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Imam Shabi narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given the ritual bath by Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Fadl, and Hazrat Usama, and they placed him in the grave. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying, "O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you! Your life was pure and your death is pure as well." Ibn Abi Marhab narrates that Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf also entered the grave with them. Imam Shabi says, "Who can be closer to the deceased than his own family?"

Hazrat Saeed says that among the people, (only) four persons buried the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Hazrat Ali, Hazrat Abbas, Hazrat Fadl, and Hazrat Salih, who was the servant of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Ibrahim says that as many people as desired can lower (the deceased) into the grave.

Hasan says that there is no harm whether those lowering (the body) into the grave are odd or even (in number).

It is narrated in the same way from Hazrat Aamir.

Hazrat Qatadah says that it is narrated from Hasan in the same manner.
