Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Salim narrates from his father that I saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, and Hazrat Umar walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Salim narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Abu Hazim says that I saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hasan walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Salih says that I saw Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Abu Qatadah, Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and Hazrat Abu Usaid walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Abu Salih narrates from his father that the companions used to walk in front of the funeral, then when they would walk so far ahead (a long distance), they would stand there and wait for the funeral (to arrive).

Ibrahim says that I saw Hazrat Alqamah and Hazrat Aswad walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Ibn Aun says that I saw Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Qasim walking in front of the funeral procession.

Ibn Aun narrates that I asked Muhammad about walking in front of the funeral procession. He replied, "I do not see any harm in it, and Qasim and Salim used to do so."

Hazrat Anas narrates: You are his helpers, so walk in front of him, behind him, to his right, and to his left.

Hazrat Abu Hazim says that I have walked in front of the funeral along with Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Hazrat Ibn Zubair.

Hazrat Abu Al-Aaliyah says that the one who walks behind the funeral is near, the one who walks ahead is near, the one who walks on the right side is near, and the one who walks on the left side is near.

Hazrat Ata says that I saw Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Ubaid bin Umair walking in front of the funeral procession.

Hazrat Aqar bin Mughira narrates that I was walking behind a funeral. Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) came and placed his fingers between my backbone and pushed me until I reached in front of the funeral.
