Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade announcing the funeral.

Hazrat Abdullah says that announcing a funeral is among the practices of ignorance.

Hazrat Abu Hayyan narrates from his father that Hazrat Rabi’ bin Khuthaym made a will, “Do not inform anyone (about my death) and bury me secretly (peacefully).”

Hazrat Zabraqan narrates that I heard Hazrat Abu Wa'il at the time of death saying, "When I pass away, do not inform anyone about me."

Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that Hazrat Abu Maisarah advised his brother that (upon my death) do not inform (announce to) anyone. The narrator Abu Ishaq says that Hazrat Alqamah had also given the same advice to Hazrat Aswad.

Ibrahim narrates that Alqamah had instructed that upon his death, no one should be informed, for he feared that announcing the funeral is among the practices of ignorance.

Ibrahim says that when there are four people present at the funeral, then do not inform anyone else.

Hazrat Abu Ja'far narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), son of Husayn, had instructed in his will that after my death, do not inform anyone.

Hazrat Asim bin Muhammad narrates from his father that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) used to wait for people's heedlessness when someone passed away.

Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah says that when I die, do not inform anyone about me.

Hazrat Mutarrif says: Do not inform anyone about my funeral.

Hazrat Abu Jamrah narrates from his father that he said: Do not inform the people of my mosque about my funeral.
