Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri narrates that twelve days were still left for the end of Ramadan when we set out on a journey with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Some of his companions kept fasts and some did not. He did not say anything to anyone.

Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that we used to perform jihad alongside the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Some of us would fast and some would not fast. Neither would the one who was fasting criticize the one who was not fasting, nor would the one who was not fasting criticize the one who was fasting.

Hazrat Humaid says that I was on a journey, and I kept a fast. People told me that I would have to make up this fast. I said that Hazrat Anas had told me that the companions used to travel, and neither did the fasting person criticize the one not fasting, nor did the one not fasting criticize the one who was fasting. After that, I met Hazrat Ibn Abi Mulaykah, and he told me the same thing on the authority of Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

Hazrat Sha'bi, Hasan, and Hazrat Sa'id bin Musayyib state that when the Companions (Sahabah) were on a journey, some of them would fast and some would not, but the one who was fasting would not say anything to the one who was not fasting, and the one who was not fasting would not say anything to the one who was fasting.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that we used to travel with the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Some of us would fast and some would not, but the one who was fasting would not object to the one who was not fasting, and the one who was not fasting would not object to the one who was fasting.

Hazrat Shaqiq narrates that we were with some of the Companions; some of them observed fast and some did not observe fast.
