Hazrat Umar bin Khattab says: O servants of Allah! Perform the Duha prayer at the time of Duha.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw some people performing the Duha prayer at the time of sunrise. He said: Why did they not delay this prayer until the sun rises one or two spears high? Because this is the prayer of the Awabeen (the righteous servants who turn to Allah).

Hazrat Shu’bah, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), narrates that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) used to ask me, “Has the shadow appeared?” If I replied, “Yes,” he would get up and perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Amr states that Hazrat Abu Salamah would not perform the Duha prayer until the sun had declined, and Hazrat Urwah would come, perform the prayer, and then sit.

Hazrat Nu’man bin Nafiz narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw some people performing the Duha prayer at the time of sunrise. He said: They have hastened in performing this prayer, may Allah also hasten goodness for them. If they had performed it after the sun had risen high, it would have been better, because the prayer at that time is the prayer of the Awabeen (the righteous servants who turn to Allah).
