Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that once Hazrat Umar invited me for sahur. During this time, he heard the noise of people leaving the mosque, so he asked, "What is this?" He was informed that people were leaving the mosque. He said, "The remaining part of the night is better than the part that has passed."

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abdul Qari narrates that Hazrat Umar said about the time in which people sleep: The time in which people sleep is more beloved to me than the time in which they pray it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the standing (in prayer) during the nights of Ramadan says that when they sleep is better than when they stand (in prayer).

Hazrat Abu Al-Mu'tamir says that I asked Hasan at what time is it more virtuous to perform Taraweeh? He replied, "At the time which is convenient for the people."

Hazrat Hakam states that the elders used to sleep for a short while before the Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan.

Hazrat Umar says that you leave the best part of the night, which is its last part.

A man said to Hazrat Umar that a considerable part of the night has passed. He replied, "What has passed of it is better than what remains of it."
