Those Scholars Who Say to Dig a Hole for Spitting
Hadith 7677
٧٦٧٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عبد اللَّه بن نمير قال: ثنا محمد بن إسحاق عن عبد اللَّه بن محمد عن عامر بن سعد بن أبي وقاص عن أبيه سعد، قال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: "إذا تنخم أحدكم في المسجد (فليغيبها) (١) لا تصب جلدة مؤمن أو ثوبه فتؤذيه" (٢).
Hazrat Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas says that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When any of you spits in the mosque, he should conceal it so that it does not soil the body or clothes of any believer.
Hadith 7678
٧٦٧٨ - حدثنا وكيع قال: نا أبو مودود عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي (حدرد) (١) الأسلمي عن أبي هريرة، قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إذا بزق أحدكم في مسجدي أو قال في المسجد فليحفر فليمعن، أو ليبزق في ثوب حتى يخرجه" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any of you spits in my mosque or in any mosque, he should make a small pit and spit into it, or spit on his garment and then clean it afterwards.
