Hazrat Sa'd says that if I sleep after offering Witr and then wake up to pray, I will offer two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs.

Hazrat Ammar says that if I perform Witr and go to sleep, and then wake up and offer prayer, I will perform two rak'ahs at a time and leave the previously performed Witr as they are.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Aiz bin Amr say that when you offer Witr in the early part of the night, then do not offer it in the last part. When you offer Witr in the last part of the night, then do not offer it in the early part.

Hazrat Yahya bin Saeed says that Hazrat Abu Bakr used to offer Witr in the early part of the night. Then when he would wake up at night, he would offer two units of prayer at a time. Hazrat Saeed also used to do the same.

Hazrat Rafi' bin Khadij says that if I perform Witr and go to sleep, and then wake up and offer prayers, I will perform them in sets of two rak'ahs and leave the previously performed Witr as they are.

Hazrat Ata says that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said that whoever performs Witr in the early part of the night and then wakes up during the night, should offer two rak'ahs at a time.

It is also narrated similarly from Hazrat Sha'bi.

Hazrat Alqamah was asked about this matter, so he said that he should perform two units (rak‘ahs) of prayer.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair says that he should offer two units (rak‘ahs) of prayer at a time.

Hazrat Abu Qais says that I met Hazrat Alqama and I asked him about this matter, so he said, "You should perform two units (rak'ahs) of prayer."

Hazrat Abu Qais says that I asked Hazrat Alqama, so he said that when you perform Witr and go to sleep, and then wake up, then until morning, add one rak‘ah to it.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked about a man who breaks his Witr prayer; what is the ruling regarding him? She replied that he is playing with his Witr.

Hazrat Dawood says that I asked Hazrat Sha'bi about the person who breaks his Witr (prayer), so he replied that we have been commanded to join, not commanded to break.

Hasan says that when a man has performed Witr, then he gets up and a part of the night still remains, what should he do now? He said that he should perform two rak‘ahs at a time.

Hazrat Alqamah says that when a person offers Witr in the early part of the night, and then gets the opportunity to pray in the last part of the night, he should offer two rak'ahs at a time until morning.

Hazrat Zubair bin Adi says that I asked Ibrahim about the person who, after offering Witr, goes to sleep and then wakes up at night for prayer—what should he do? He replied that he should offer two rak‘ahs at a time. And the predecessors considered it preferable that people's last prayer should be Witr.

It is narrated from Hazrat Taliq that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Witr is not to be performed twice in one night.
