Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umar narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to discuss the affairs of the Muslims at night with Hazrat Abu Bakr, and I used to be with him. One night, he conversed with Hazrat Abu Bakr, and I was with him.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila says that Hazrat Abu Laila had a conversation with Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) after the Isha prayer.

Hazrat Ziyad Abu Yahya says that Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Hazrat Miswar bin Makhramah had a conversation after the Isha prayer.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), daughter of Talha, says that Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had a conversation with a man after the Isha prayer.

Hazrat Abu Bakr bin Abi Musa narrates that Hazrat Abu Musa came to Hazrat Umar bin Khattab after the Isha prayer. Hazrat Umar bin Khattab asked him, "Why have you come?" He replied, "I have come to discuss some matters with you." Hazrat Umar said, "At this hour?" Hazrat Abu Musa said, "It is a matter of religion." Upon this, Hazrat Umar sat with him, and both of them talked the whole night. Then Hazrat Abu Musa said, "O Commander of the Faithful! The time for prayer has come." Upon this, Hazrat Umar said, "We were already in prayer."

Hazrat Ibn Sirin states that Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) had a conversation with Walid bin Uqbah after the 'Isha prayer.

Hazrat Hisham states that his father, Hazrat Urwah, used to converse after the Isha prayer to such an extent that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) would say, "It is morning now!"

Hazrat Ikrimah states that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) had a conversation with Hazrat Muawiyah for a long part of the night.

Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrates that some people from the Quraysh used to converse after the 'Isha prayer. 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) sent someone to instruct them to go to their families, because their families also have a share in their time.

Hazrat Hisham states that Hazrat Ibn Sirin used to converse after the Isha prayer.

Hazrat Mujahid says that there is no harm in discussing religious matters after the Isha prayer.

Hazrat Mughira says that Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz had a storyteller who would narrate stories to him at night.

Hazrat Yahya bin Saeed says that Hazrat Qasim and his companions used to converse after the Isha prayer.
