Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mujahid says that the Imam is the guarantor of the people, therefore he should not supplicate for himself alone, leaving out the people.

Hazrat Abu Qalabah once asked Khalid Hadhdha, "Do you know why leading the prayer (Imamat) is disliked?" He replied, "No, but I do know this much: it is disliked for the Imam to make a special supplication (dua) for himself, leaving out the people."

Ibrahim says that it is disliked for the imam to supplicate only for himself, leaving out the followers.

Hazrat Haroon bin Ibrahim says that I asked Hazrat Ibn Sireen whether the Imam can pray only for himself? He replied, No, he should pray for them the same as he prays for himself.

Hazrat Tawus and Hazrat Mujahid say that it is not appropriate for the Imam to leave the people and make a supplication only for himself.

Hazrat Abdullah says that it is disliked for the imam to supplicate only for himself, leaving out the followers.
