If Someone Misses a Prayer Due to Battle or Similar Engagement, How Should He Make It Up?
Hadith 4852
٤٨٥٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال حدثنا (١) هشيم قال أخبرنا (٢) يونس عن الحسن أنه كان يقول في المسافر: إذا نسي صلاة السفر فذكرها في الحضر صلى صلاة السفر وإذا نسي صلاة في الحضر فذكرها في السفر فليصل صلاة الحضر.
Hasan says that if a traveler forgets a prayer during travel and remembers it while at home, he should perform the travel prayer; and if he forgets a prayer at home and remembers it during travel, he should perform the home prayer.
Hadith 4853
٤٨٥٣ - حدثنا هشيم عن مغيرة وعبيدة عن إبراهيم مثل ذلك.
Ibrahim also says the same.
Hadith 4854
٤٨٥٤ - حدثنا وكيع قال (حدثنا) (١) سفيان عن ابن الفضل عن الحسن قال: إذا نسي صلاة في الحضر فذكرها في السفر صلى صلاة الحضر وإذا نسي صلاة في السفر (فذكرها) في الحضر صلى صلاة السفر.
Hasan says that if a person forgets a prayer while at home (not traveling) and remembers it during a journey, he should offer the prayer as it is performed at home. And if he forgets a prayer during a journey and remembers it at home, he should offer the prayer as it is performed during a journey.
Hadith 4855
٤٨٥٥ - حدثنا وكيع قال: سمعت سفيان يقول: يصلي الصلاة التي نسيها.
Hazrat Sufyan says that he will offer the same prayer which he had forgotten.
Hadith 4856
٤٨٥٦ - حدثنا غندر عن شعبة عن عبد الخالق عن حماد قال: إذا نسي صلاة في الحضر فذكرها في السفر (صلى أربعا) (١) وإذا نسي صلاة في السفر فذكرها في الحضر صلى صلاة سفر.
Hazrat Hammad says that if a person forgets to offer a prayer while at home (not traveling) and remembers it during a journey, he should offer four rak‘ahs. And if he forgets to offer a prayer during a journey and remembers it at home, he should offer the prayer of the journey.
