Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib, regarding the person who misses one rak'ah with the imam, says that he should perform as much of the prayer as he catches and should not perform two prostrations.

Ibn 'Ulayyah says that Yunus was asked about a person who misses one rak'ah with the congregation or catches one rak'ah, so will he perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sajdah sahw)? He replied that Hasan and Muhammad did not consider two prostrations obligatory upon such a person.

Hazrat Ata states that if Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), Hazrat Ibn Zubair, Hazrat Abu Saeed, and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) missed one rak'ah with the congregation, they would perform two prostrations.

Hazrat Abu Saeed, Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and Hazrat Ibn Zubair say that if a person misses some part of the prayer with the congregation, he should complete it and perform two prostrations.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah says that if a person catches one prostration with the Imam, he should perform another prostration with him. Then, after the Imam finishes the prayer, he should perform two prostrations. If he catches two prostrations with the Imam, then after finishing the prayer, he should perform two prostrations.

The same is also narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Tawus, and Hazrat Mujahid say that if you miss one rak'ah with the congregation, then make up for it and perform two prostrations while sitting.

Ibrahim says that he will perform prostration with the people, and no one else will perform prostration with him.
