On Shortening the Salah: Those Who Used to Shorten the Prayer
Hadith 4722
٤٧٢٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر (قال) (١) حدثنا (٢) وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي حازم عن سهل بن سعد الساعدي قال: لقد رأيت الرجال (عاقدي) (٣) أزرهم في أعناقهم مثل الصبيان من ضيق الأزر خلف النبي ﷺ فقال قائل: "يا معشر النساء لا ترفعن رؤوسكن حتى يرفع الرجال (٤) " (٥).
Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi narrates that I saw men, due to the shortage of lower garments, tying their lower garments around their necks like children and offering prayer behind the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then someone said, “O group of women! Do not raise your heads before the men.”
Hadith 4723
٤٧٢٣ - حدثنا حسين بن علي عن زائدة عن عبد اللَّه بن محمد بن عقيل عن جابر عن النبي ﷺ قال: يا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ، إِذا سَجَدَ الرِّجَالُ فَاغْضُضْنَ أَبْصَارَكُنَّ لَا تَرينَ عَوْرَاتِ الرِّجَالِ مِنْ ضِيقِ الأَزُرِ (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O group of women! When men go into prostration, lower your gaze so that, due to the tightness of their lower garments, you do not see the private parts of the men.
Hadith 4724
٤٧٢٤ - حدثنا يحيى بن أبي (بكير) (١) قال: (حدثنا) (٢) زهير بن محمد عن عبد اللَّه بن محمد بن عقيل عن سعيد بن المسيب عن أبي سعيد عن النبي ﷺ قال: "يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ إِذا سَجَدَ الرِّجَالُ فَاغْضُضْنَ أبْصَارَكُنَّ لَا تَرَيْنَ عَوْرَاتِ الرِّجَالِ مِنْ ضِيقِ الأُزُرِ" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O group of women! When men prostrate, keep your eyes lowered, so that due to the tightness of the lower garments, you do not see the private parts of the men.
