Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara bin Azib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon the first row.

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara bin Azib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those in the front rows.

Hazrat Bara bin Azib narrates that Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon the first row.

Hazrat Urwah narrates that it was said: The best rows of men are the front rows, and the worst rows of women are the front rows.

Hazrat Zadhan says that if people were to know what is in the first row, they would draw lots for it.

Hazrat Urwah narrates that it was said: Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those who pray in the front rows.

Hazrat Dawood bin Abi Hind narrates that a man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me of a deed that I may do." The Prophet said, "Become the imam of your people." He said, "What if I do not have the ability for that?" The Prophet said, "Then become their muezzin." He said, "What if I do not have the ability for that either?" The Prophet said, "Then stand in the first row."

Hazrat Husain narrates that I was with Hazrat Abdullah bin Shaddad, and I gave the iqamah for prayer. He said, "Move forward, move forward," because it was said that Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon the front rows.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aamir bin Masood Qureshi that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If people knew what is in the first row, they would draw lots to secure a place in it.

Hazrat Irbad bin Sariyah (who was among the Ashab-e-Suffah) narrates that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would send blessings upon the first row three times and upon the second row once.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best rows for men are the front ones, and the worst are the back ones. The best rows for women are the back ones, and the worst are the front ones.

Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim narrates that when the prayer was established, Urwah bin Zubair said, "Move forward, move forward."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The first row is like the row of angels. If you knew its reality, you would rush towards it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best row for men is the front one and the worst row is the last one. The best row for women is the last one and the worst row is the front one.

Hazrat Mujahid narrates that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw an empty space in the first row, so he said that Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon the first rows. Upon hearing this, people rushed to fill that empty space.
