في الرجل يصلي (فلا يدري) زاد أو نقصIf Someone Prayed but Does Not Know How Many Rak‘ahs He Prayed, What Should He Do?
Hadith 4468
٤٤٦٨ - حدثنا جرير (بن) (١) عبد الحميد عن منصور عن الحكم قال: قال علي: إذا شك في الزيادة والنقصان فليصل ركعة فإن اللَّه لا يعذب على زيادة في الصلاة فإن كانت تماما كانت له وإن كانت زيادة كانت له (٢).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when you have doubt about deficiency or excess in prayer, then perform one more rak‘ah. Because Allah Almighty will not punish for extra prayer. If the prayer was incomplete, it will be completed because of this rak‘ah, and if this rak‘ah turns out to be extra, then there is reward for it.
