Hadith 39696
٣٩٦٩٦ - حدثنا يحيى بن آدم عن بن إدريس عن محمد بن إسحاق عن الزهري عن عبيد اللَّه بن عبد اللَّه بن عتبة عن ابن عباس أن رسول اللَّه ﷺ عام الفتح لما جاءه العباس بن عبد المطلب بأبي سفيان فأسلم بمر الظهران، فقال له العباس: يا رسول اللَّه، إن أبا سفيان (١) يحب هذا الفخر، فلو جعلت له شيئًا، قال: "نعم، من دخل دار أبي (سفيان) (٢) فهو آمن، ومن أغلق بابه فهوم آمن" (٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the year of the conquest of Makkah, Hazrat Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib brought Abu Sufyan to the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and Abu Sufyan accepted Islam at the place of Maraz-Zahran. Hazrat Abbas said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Abu Sufyan is a man who likes pride. If you could appoint something (honorable) for him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan will be safe, and whoever closes his door will also be safe.
