كلام أبي الدرداء ﵁Sayings of Abu al-Darda’ رضي الله عنه
Hadith 37328
٣٧٣٢٨ - حدثنا محمد بن فضيل عن حصين عن سالم بن أبي الجعد عن أبي الدرداء أنه قال: مالي أرى علماءكم يذهبون، وأرى جهالكم لا يتعلمون، اعلموا قبل أن يرفع العلم فإنّ رفعَ العلم ذهابُ العلماء، مالي أراكم تحرصون على ما تكفل لكم به، وتضيعون ما وكلتم به، لأنا أعلم بشراركم من البيطار بالخيل، هم الذين لا ⦗٣٥٦⦘ يأتون الصلاة إلا دبرًا، ولا يسمعون القرآن إلا هجرًا، ولا يعتق محررهم (١).
It is narrated about Hazrat Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: What has happened to me that I see your scholars are departing and I see your ignorant people are not acquiring knowledge? Acquire knowledge before knowledge is taken away, for the taking away of knowledge is the departure of the scholars. What has happened to me that I see you eager for those things which have been entrusted to you? Among you, I know the evil people better than the one who treats animals knows horses. These are the people who perform prayer after its time has passed, listen to the Holy Qur’an with indifference, and do not free their slaves.
