Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Mujahid narrates that a supervisor from the tribe of Juhaina told me that during winter, a prisoner was brought to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to some people from the tribe of Juhaina: Take him and clothe him in warm clothes. The narrator says that in their language, the word "daf" was used in the sense of killing. So they took that person and killed him. Later, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them about him. They said, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Did you not order us to kill him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How did I tell you? Did I say, take him and kill him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, then I have become a partner with you. You must pay his blood money, and I am your partner in it. The narrator says: Then I narrated this hadith to Hazrat Aamir, and he said: You have spoken the truth, and he recognized the hadith.
