Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj said that I have received the information that a man came to Umar bin Abdul Aziz and said, "Such-and-such person has beaten me to the extent that one of my ears has become deaf." So Hazrat Umar said, "How will we know?" The man replied, "Call the physicians." So they called the physicians, and after smelling (examining), they said that he is deaf.
