Hadith 27756
٢٧٧٥٦ - حدثنا مالك بن إسماعيل قال: (حدثنا) (١) مسعود بن سعد عن ⦗٣٥١⦘ عطاء ابن السائب عن (ابن) (٢) عباد عن أبيه أن رجلًا من بني ليث أتى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول اللَّه أنشدك؟ قال: "لا" - (ثلاثًا) (٣) - فأنشده في الرابعة مدحة له، فقال: "إن كان (أحد) (٤) من (الشعراء) (٥) يحسن فقد أحسنت" (٦).
Hazrat ‘Abbad narrates that a man from the tribe of Banu Laith came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Shall I recite poetry to you? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied three times: No. Then, upon being granted permission the fourth time, he recited eulogistic verses, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If any poet does good, then you have done good.
