Hadith 20416
٢٠٤١٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا (عبيدة) (١) بن حميد عن (ركين) (٢) عن نعيم بن حنظلة قال: قدم جرير بن عبد اللَّه على عمر فشكا إليه ما يلقى من النساء من سوء أخلاقهن، قال: فقال عمر: إني ألقى مثل ما تلقى منهن، إني لآتي، قال -السوق أو الناس- أشتري منهم الدابة أو الثوب، فتقول المرأة: إنما انطلق ينظر إلى (فتياتهم) (٣) أو يخطب إليهم، قال: فقال عبد اللَّه بن مسعود: أو ما تعلم (ما) (٤) شكا إبراهيم من درء في خلق سارة، فأوحى اللَّه إليه، إنما هي من ضلع، فخذ الضلع فأقمه، فإن استقام وإلا فالبسها على ما (فيها) (٥) (٦).
Hazrat Naeem bin Hanzalah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Hazrat Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) once presented himself before Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and complained about the bad manners of his wives. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the trouble you are facing, I am also facing. Whenever I go to the market or meet people, or buy an animal or cloth, they say that he goes to the market to look at girls and sends them proposals for marriage! Upon hearing this, Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) said that Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) complained to Allah Almighty about the manners and disobedience of Hazrat Sarah (may Allah be pleased with her), so it was said to him that a woman is like a rib; if you try to straighten her, you will break her, and if you leave her, you will leave her crooked. Despite their habits, live with them.
