Hadith 20167
٢٠١٦٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا يحيى بن سليم عن عبد اللَّه بن عثمان قال: حلف أخي (عمر) (١) بن عثمان (بعتق) (٢) جارية له ألا يشرب من (يدها) (٣)، إلى ⦗٤٣٧⦘ أجل ضربه فنسي قبل الأجل، فشرب، (فاستفتيت) (٤) له عطاء ومجاهدًا وسعيد بن جبير وعليًا الأزدي وكلهم رأى أنها حرة.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Uthman (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that my brother Umar bin Uthman (may Allah have mercy on him) swore an oath that if he drank from the hand of such-and-such slave-girl within a certain period, she would be free. Then, before the period was completed, he forgot and drank from her hand. I asked Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Mujahid, Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair, and Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with them all) about this matter, and all of them said that she is free.
