Hadith 19214
١٩٢١٤ - (١) حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن قتادة عن الحسن عن زيد بن ثابت قال: إذا وهبها لأهلها فقبلوها فثلاث، لا تحل له حتى تنكح زوجًا غيره، وإن ردوها فواحدة وهو أحق بها، وبه كان يأخذ الحسن (٢).
Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person gifts his wife to her own family, it is equivalent to three divorces; now that woman is not lawful for that husband until she marries another man. If they refuse to accept, then it is one divorce and the man has the right to take her back. This was also the opinion of Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him).
