Hadith 18668
١٨٦٦٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا وكيع عن يزيد عن ابن سيرين قال: قال رجل -يعني عليًا-: (لو) (١) أن الناس أصابوا (حد) (٢) الطلاق ما ندم رجل على امرأة يطلقها وهي حامل -قد تبين حملها-، أو طاهر لم يجامعها (٣) (منذ طهرت) (٤) ينتظر حتى إذا كان في قبل عدتها (طلقها) (٥) فإن بدا (له) (٦) أن يراجعها (راجعها) (٧) وإن بدا له أن يخلي سبيلها (٨) (خلى سبيلها) (٩) (١٠).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that if people had to face the prescribed punishment for divorce, then no man would regret divorcing his wife while she is pregnant, nor after divorcing her in a period of purity in which he has not had intercourse with her. He would wait and divorce her at the beginning of her waiting period (‘iddah), then if he wishes to take her back, he may do so, and if he wishes to let her go, he may let her go.
