It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Majliz that he was with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). When the sun rose, he ordered for a mount, so a mount was brought for him and he set out from Mina riding on it. The narrator says: So if anything seemed strange to us, it was due to our ignorance. There was a man who used to talk to him about women and make him laugh. The narrator says: When he performed the Asr prayer, he stood at Arafat and raised his hands, or he said: spread his hands. The narrator says: I do not know, perhaps he said: raised them up to below the ears, and he began to recite: Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil hamd, la ilaha illallahu wahdahu, lahu-l-mulku wa lahu-l-hamdu, Allahumma ihdini bil-huda, wa qini bit-taqwa, waghfir li fil-akhirati wal-oola. Then he lowered his hands and remained silent for as long as it takes a person to recite Surah Al-Fatiha, then he returned and raised his hands and supplicated again, and he continued doing so until he returned towards Mina. The narrator says: When he saw an open space, he would walk quickly, and when he saw a narrow place, he would stop. Then when he came to any of those mountains, he would stand on each mountain for as long as it takes a person to say: His hands have stopped but his legs have not stopped. The narrator says: Then he descended on the way and continued walking, and I kept walking behind him. I said: Perhaps he intends to perform some Sunnah act. He said: I have indeed come in this manner so that I may teach you. Then he came and performed ablution slowly and with pauses, then he mounted his ride and did not pray until he reached Muzdalifah. There he performed the Maghrib prayer and, turning to us, said: "As-salatu jami'ah" (the prayer is to be performed together), and nothing should be done between them (no nafl prayers). C I asked: Is there no iqamah between them (the two prayers) except for the statement "As-salatu jami'ah"? He replied: No. Then he performed two rak'ahs for Isha, then he performed five rak'ahs for Maghrib and Isha and did not perform any nafl prayers between them. Then he asked for food and said: Whoever hears our voice, let him come to us. The narrator says: It is as if they see that doing so is appropriate. Then he spent the night there. Then he led us in Fajr prayer in the darkness, when there was not a single star visible in the sky, and he recited Surah Abasa wa Tawalla and did not recite Qunoot, neither before nor after ruku. Then he remained there and mentioned the supplications of that place as he had mentioned the previous day at Arafat. Then he set out, walking in such a way that if he saw an open space, he would walk quickly, and when he saw a narrow place, he would stop. E The narrator says: Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) informed me that indeed the valley in front of Mina, which is called Wadi Muhassir, one should descend there. F Then when he came to it, he struck his mount with his foot, so I understood that he intended to move quickly. He tired his mount, so I made my mount run fast. Then he performed the stoning of the Jamrah, and the next day also performed the stoning of the Jamrah. The narrator says: I think he said to me: Perform the stoning from after zawal until Asr. Then he moved on until he was between the first Jamrah and the second Jamrah, then he mentioned supplications as he had mentioned at the two previous places (of standing), but in this supplication he added the words: "Wa aslih li ya wa atimm lana manasikana." The narrator says: He stayed at that place for as long as it takes a person to recite Surah Yusuf, then performed the stoning of the middle Jamrah, then mentioned supplications in the same way and stayed for the same duration. G The narrator says: I asked Hazrat Salim or Hazrat Nafi: Did he recite anything during his silence? He replied: There is nothing in the Sunnah about that.
