في الرجل يحلف على الطعامIf someone swears an oath over food
Hadith 13044
١٣٠٤٤ - حدثنا جرير (عن) (١) عبد العزيز بن رفيع عن مجاهد قال: كان لرجل من الأنصار ضيف، فأبطأ عن أهله، فقال: (عشيتم) (٢) (٣)؟ قالوا: لا. قال: (لا) (٤) واللَّه لا أطعم الليلة [من عشائكم، فقالت (امرأته) (٥): إذًا واللَّه لا أطعمه، قال: فقال الضيف: و (أنا) (٦) واللَّه لا أطعمه أيضًا] (٧)، قال: فقال: يبيت ضيفي بغير طعام، قربوا طعامكم، فأكلوا معه فلما أصبح غدا إلى رسول اللَّه ﷺ فأخبره بذلك، فقال: "أطعت اللَّه وعصيت الشيطان" (٨).
It is narrated from Hazrat Mujahid that there was a guest at the house of a man from the Ansar. His family delayed, so the Ansari asked, "Have you given my guest dinner?" They said, "No." The Ansari said, "Then by Allah, I will not eat your food tonight either." His wife said, "Then I will not eat either." The guest said, "By Allah, I will not eat either." The Ansari said, "Shall my guest spend the night without eating! Bring the food," then he ate with them. In the morning, he went and informed the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of the whole incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You obeyed Allah and disobeyed Satan."
